Mekong Delta to the beach

THROUGH THIS MEKONG DELTA TO THE BEACH TOUR, YOU WILL DISCOVER

Day 1 : Arrive Ho Chi Minh City

Arrive at Ho Chi Minh airport, meet with your guide and driver and transfer to the hotel for check in. The remainder of the day will be free at leisure.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 2 : Ho Chi Minh City – Can Tho (B, L)

After breakfast, leave bustling Ho Chi Minh and transfer by vehicle 4 hours into the Mekong Delta. Stop along the way for a refreshing local coffee before arriving in Can Tho.

Can Tho is the largest city in the Mekong delta, considered as the capital city of the area. The Mekong delta was once part of the Khmer Kingdom, that is why today there are many Khmers are living here.

In the afternoon visit the local pagoda, a typical Khmer Buddhist pagoda where you meet the resident friendly monks. To have a deeper understanding of the area, visit a local museum which is well displayed and informatively provides a review of the Mekong’s history. Pay a visit to a 100-year old Vietnamese/French style house in Binh Thuy and have the feel of colonial past time in the Mekong delta. The house was chosen as one of filming scenes for the French film the “The Lover” which is based on the Marguerite Duras novel. Check in the hotel and enjoy free time in evening.

Day 3 : Can Tho – Cai Rang floating market (B, L)

In early morning take a small boat to explore the incredibly colourful floating market of Cai Rang which is at its peak vibe by 7AM (recommended early start for this day). Your small boat journeys along the waterways where vessels congregate selling their produce with a piece of fruit or a vegetable attached to a pole at the bow signifying what is for sale on each boat. Enjoy breakfast on-board while watching the boats fully loaded with pineapple, banana or mango as you cruise around the floating market.

After the floating market return to Can Tho by boat through waterways, enjoy the lush landscapes along the way, plus the local communities. Return to land and have lunch in Can Tho.

In the afternoon, spend time for cycling around the quiet lanes and dirt paths of Can Tho. Cycle through the countryside on the roads that are flat and the sites are amazing: cottage industries, small farms harvesting or planting rice, hidden temples.

Day 4 : Can Tho – Fly to Phu Quoc (B)

Today, leaving the delta and heading to the beach. Spend time at leisure until transfer to Can Tho airport for your flight to Phu Quoc. On arrival, the shuttle bus from the resort will transfer you to resort.

Phu Quoc island’s clear waters, idyllic beaches plus charming uniquely local character make for an ideal beach holiday destination.

Optional activities on the island: Phu Quoc is a snorkeling and diving paradise for both half and full day excursion. There is a tropical forest on the island and this is a perfect op for a day trek. Vietnam’s favorite dipping sauce Nuoc Mam (Fish Sauce) can be found here in abundance and a visit to a local factory will be a good experience.

Days 5 & 6 : Phu Quoc (B)

Spend your day at your own pace in the resort or on the beach.

Day 7 : Phu Quoc – Fly to Ho Chi Minh City – Departure (B)

Relax by the pool or spend time at leisure until check out. The resort shuttle bus will be provided for your transfer to the airport for the departing flight to Ho Chi Minh City.
