THROUGH THE BEN TRE HOMESTAY EXPERIENCE TOUR, YOU WILL DISCOVER

Day 1 : Ho Chi Minh City – Ben Tre (L, D)

At 8AM, your guide and driver will come to pick you up and transfer to Ben Tre province. The two-hour journey to Ben Tre offers scenic views of Mekong delta, Southern Vietnam. Considered by many, Ben Tre is kingdom of coconut and is famous for its fruit orchards and traditional craftsmen making variety of products from coconut such candy, mattress, coconut cushion and bowl.

Arrive in the destination at around 10AM and cruise on a wooden boat for a first glimpse of life in the Mekong delta. Crossing Cai Cam river to pay a visit to a coconut processing workshop and learn about the different uses of these fibres products in daily life. Venture for more rustic experience by hopping on a vintage Lambro and weave along sleepy village roads, stop to learn how locals weave coconut mats.

Next, visit a family with their home surrounded by fruit garden. Learn about local fruit orchards and taste some of the local tropical fruits and engage with the family members, the landlord.

Next, travel by sampan heading to Mrs. Mai’s house for lunch and homestay. For the rest of the day, spend time at leisure and relax or partake with local activities such as rowing boats, catching shrimp, weaving grasshoppers from coconut leaves.

In late afternoon, join in the preparations of the authentic Vietnamese dish for evening dinner. You may be offer one or two cups of rice wine by the owner and fall asleep in a mosquito net.

Note:

As the home stay condition, the bedding and mosquito net aren’t of the same standard as a hotel and there is also no air-con; however, this is a great (perhaps the best) way to get in tune with nature and to experience life in the Mekong delta.

Day 2 : Ben Tre – Ho Chi Minh City (B, L)

Wake up and enjoy a simple breakfast prepared by the hosts and spend the morning at leisure. For more active one, take a bike cycle around the village on the quiet small roads to get more authentic experience of the life in the Delta.

At 10 AM, wave goodbye to your host and transfer back to Ben Tre pier. Disembark the boat and take a scenic drive towards Uncle Sau Khanh’s house – a local farmer whose hobby is collecting archaeological findings. Be amazed by his passion and collection of antiques like ancient ceramics and sculptures before getting ready for the drive back to Ho Chi Minh City at 11AM.
