THROUGH THE LUANG SAY CRUISE, YOU WILL DISCOVER
Day 1: Luang Prabang – Pak Ou cave – Pakbeng (L, D)
Begin your journey from Luang Prabang on Luang Say Cruise at 07:00.
On the way upstream to Pakbeng, there are two sightseeing stops, the first at Pak Ou Caves for visiting the Laos’ holiest caves with thousand of Buddha statues displayed inside, the second is at the village of Ban Baw to learn about the traditional rice alcohol distilling process.
After buffet lunch, the boat continues along the scenic Mekong River. In late afternoon, reach Pakbeng, a small destination where the steep hillside streets flanked with wooden houses.
Enjoy dinner and overnight in Pakbeng.
Day 2: Pakbeng – Houay Xay (B, L)
Your breakfast is served at the hotel before continuing the river cruise upstream.
OPTIONAL: Get up early and visit a morning local market to see all local produces on display for sale.
Enjoy the magical Mekong upper part while some more stops can be arranged to visit and admire the rural villages of ethnic minorities by the riverside.
Reach Houay Xay border gate before 17:00. From here, it is possible to proceed to Chiang Rai in the same day. Crossing border procedures and formality to enter Thailand at Chiang Khong is client’s own arrangement.
