At 8.30 AM, embark on an exploring tour of Hue’s imperial mausoleums and the royal palaces which are the symbolic structures of the Nguyen Dynasty’s past glory, wander through the citadel and Forbidden City complex and explore the history of Hue to unfold the stories of the Nguyen feudalism which set rule in Vietnam from 1802 until 1945.

Marvel at Emperor Minh Mang’s grand mausoleum, perhaps the most impressively elaborate one of all the Nguyen Dynasty Emperors’ tombs, with large impressive gates and heavily decorated terracotta roofs. The tomb was built when the emperor was still alive but during construction, he passed away and it was left to the son to complete the building tasks. You also have chance to visit handicraft workshop where local women stitch conical palm hats and produce incense sticks using sandal wood, cinnamon and sawdust mixed with tree resin.

Today, lunch will be a feast on a vegetarian meal at Dong Thuyen Pagoda. Your meal is prepared by the friendly nuns from this peaceful pagoda. Have look in the kitchen and be amazed to notice that how your tasty food is cooked in a wood burning stove. After enjoying the meal in the tranquil pagoda garden, take the opportunity to learn more about the Buddhism practice in Hue city.

Next, drive to the village of Thanh Tien where the local people in the place are well-known for their tradition of over 300 years crafting paper flowers. Meet and talk to the local villagers and learn how to make some ornate paper flowers for your own to take home. Your visit to the village is sure to be backing a good cause as you just support a social enterprise providing opportunities for the traditional artists, craftsmen to keep their traditional craft skills while providing additional income and recognition.

Finally, visit Tha Om Garden House, meet with the owner, Mr. Vinh who is descended from the royal family to learn more about this traditional 19th century Hue style residential place. Enjoy some traditional Hue tea before returning to your hotel for a good rest.
