Day 1: Arrive Chiang Rai

Welcome to Chiang Rai, capital city of the far North Thailand. You will be greeted by your guide and escorted to your hotel.

Your afternoon sightseeing begin at the ‘Art Scene’ of Chiang Rai town presented by the famous Thai artist Thawan Duchanee, appointed as Thai National Artist in 2001, he has opened his house “Baan Dam” to the public to promote Thai traditional art to younger generation.

Meet a local artist then visit the Art Bridge, the place combine an art gallery and a fine restaurant, which is funded by community-based artist that seeks to further encourage support for the arts within Thailand. Here, you will find two art trends that belong to two well known artists. Also, dinner is served at the Art Bridge Restaurant.

Day 2: Chiang Rai – Doi Tung – Mae Sai – Golden Triangle – Chiang Rai (B, L)

Today, depart the hotel and drive to Doi Tung, the region once was notorious for cultivation of opium, learn about the Area Development Project to erase opium growing and encourage farmers to shift to new agricultural practices instead. During the tour, visit the Royal Handicraft Center where local people make mulberry paper, and other weaving products that are typical for the region. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

Head further to visit a unique market of Mae Sai on the Thai-Burmese border and continue to the Golden Triangle, where the borders of three countries of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos meet. Visit Chiang Saen district with ruined temples on the banks of Mekong River before returning to Chiang Rai for the night.

Day 3: Chiang Rai (B, L)

After a good night sleep, drive up to Mae Salong hill to discover the vibrant mountainous lifestyle of a fascinating hill tribe village of Hloyo. Reaching Hloyo village, feel warmly welcomed by the head of Hloyo village, here discover about Akha’s fascinating culture including of their religion, spiritualism and ways of life. After visiting Akha Museum which is housed inside a mud house, a local guide will take lead for a walking tour around the village and see the lifestyle of the people and their traditional bamboo houses. Learn to make some tribal crafts for home with the guidance from friendly local instructor.

After lunch in a local Akha family, enjoy beautiful landscapes on the trek through pristine natural forest. Bid farewell to the local host family and Akha friends before departing Hloyo for returning back to your hotel for the night.

Day 4: Chiang Rai – Departure (B)

Enjoy the breakfast and taking a private transfer to the airport for to take flight to your next destination.
