THROUGH THE 4000 ISLANDS TOUR, YOU WILL DISCOVER

 

Day 1: Arrive Pakse (L)

Welcome to Pakse, be met by your guide and transfer to the hotel.

Begin with a small tour for orientation of Pakse, a major town of Laos’ southern part. Walk through a colonial architecture and Chinese-style building mixed area and through a colorful market. After the orientation tour, drive to Bolaven Plateau, home to pristine waterfalls and different hill tribe minorities who tend coffee farm. Visit two waterfalls, Tad Fane and Tad Yuang in which the water are flowing down from over 100 m heights.
After the waterfalls, enjoy a local but tasteful lunch. Then sample some home grown coffee.

Before returning to Pakse, visit two more waterfalls of Tad Hang and then Tad Lo. The last visit of the day is a hill tribe of Katu in Ban Houay Houn, where local people are famous for their textiles. It’s surprise that the village women here weave without a loom, they use legs to hold the yarn fabric.

Return to hotel in Pakse in late afternoon.

Day 2 : Pakse – Wat Phou – Khong island (B, L)

Enjoy breakfast and transfer to Wat Phou. This temple locales amidst the verdant countryside and is UNESCO World Heritage. With three levels, the lowest is for the bar ray, the second level is for the bass-relief and the third one is for the sanctuary, the structure features pre-Angkorian style and still remains as one of the most prominent shrine and a religious center of Lao people.

Enjoy lunch in local restaurant then transfer to the largest island in Southern Laos, Khong Island is one of 4,000 Islands in the region. In Lao language, this area known as “Siphandon” and is the largest part of the Mekong river as it expands over 14km wide and comprising of thousands of small islands.

Spend the night on Khong Island.

Day 3: Khong island – Pakse (B, L)

After breakfast, take a full day to discover the 4000 Islands area (Si Phan Don).

Travel to Ban Nakasan to board a local boat and cruise to Don Khone island, the destination is home to some rustic villages. Hop on a bicycle and start the mini adventure exploring the area. Alternatively, a ride on tuk tuk is also available.

On reaching the west side of Don Khone, visit Liphi, the impressive falls near the border with Cambodian. The name Tad Somphamit, means “trap spirit” in Cambodian as people believe the falls help trapping for bad spirits.

Board another short boat ride to enjoy the magical part of the Mekong River with opportunity to spot the world Red Book Irrawaddy dolphin. Lunch will be served in one of the local restaurant before getting back to Ban Nakasan then drive to the hotel in Pakse in late afternoon.

Day 4: Pakse – Departure (B)

Have breakfast and take a private transfer to the airport to catch the departure flight.
