THROUGH THE DISCOVER VIETNAM’S CENTRAL HIGHLANDS TOUR, YOU WILL EXPLORE
Day 1 : Pleiku – Kon Tum
Upon the airport arrival, your driver will be waiting to provide transfer for the 50-minute drive to Kon Tum for check in at the hotel.
After refreshment, venture out to visit Gia Rai village. The people of Gia Rai hill tribe believes in the existence of genies and hold rituals for this faith. The group is a matriarchal society, in which the women are free to choose who they marry. Husbands live in the wife family. Each village has a communal house called a Rong, Rong is a central stilt house with a tall, steeply thatched roof. No nails are used in the bamboo construction.
Overnight in Kon Tum.
Day 2 : Kon Tum – Kon Ko Tu village homestay (B, L, D)
In the morning, drive for a hour to visit the Sodra people in Kon Ray and Kon Bil villages. Their homes are long stilt houses built out of bamboo and straw, reinforced with rattan ropes.
Drive on to Kondo village to visit Jo Long hill tribe, catching glimpses of hand weaving on giant looms or the wooden statues.
Continue to drive 30-minutes to the Bhanar village of Kon Ko Tu. On arrival, start a 4-km trek from Kon Ko Tu village along the Dak Bla riverbank. Return by a pirogue to Kon Ko Tu village.
Tonight’s dinner is a local treat, including a Gong show and Xoang dancing and the chance to sample some local rice wine.
Day 3 : Kon Ko Tu – Buon Ma Thuot (B, L)
From Kon Ko Tu, transfer back to Kom Tum. Here visit the town’s wooden church, an interesting combination of both hill tribe and European style. Continue to visit the Bahnar hill tribe groups where animist beliefs are still a part of everyday life. They believe the most important spirits are the kings of water, fire and wind, represented by shamans who are involved in rain-calling ceremonies and other rituals.
Drive 5 hours to Buon Ma Thuot, passing by countless coffee, rubber, and pepper plantations and other farms.
On the way to Buon Ma Thuot, stop to enjoy the scenery and panoramic views of the lowland country. The region is home to Jarai hill tribe, the largest ethnic group in the Central Highlands.
Later, visit the local market with a huge array of fresh food. Buon Ma Thuot has lovely outdoor coffee shops to blend in with the locals and laze away the evenings. You must try one for experience too.
Overnight in Buon Ma Thuot.
Day 4 : Buon Ma Thuot – Lac Lak – Dray Sap – Departure (B, L)
This morning, take 1.5 hr scenic drive to Lak lake. Visit the villages of ethnic minority; here the local people still use their traditional ways of fishing, waving clothe, and rice farming. Take an elephant ride on Lak lake for a life experience.
On the way back to Buon Ma Thuot, visit Dray Sap waterfall in the rain forest.
Arrive at Buon Ma Thuot airport for flight to Ho Chi Minh City where you will connect flight to your next destination.
